The hotel was convenient for exploring Dumfries, with a short walk to town yet peaceful surroundings. The friendly service made our stay stress-free, but the room location by the entrance was a bit noisy at times. The dining experience offered a tasty breakfast selection, although the unexpected room intrusion by housekeeping was a negative surprise.

Rooms
7.0
The room, though accessible from outside, was a bit too close to the entrance resulting in noise from other guests' comings and goings. It lacked seating other than a single dining chair.
Service
8.0
The staff went above and beyond to assist with late check-in, ensuring a relaxing stay. However, there was a disruptive incident with housekeeping during checkout.
Location

The location was ideal, close to Dumfries attractions and a convenient walk to town with shops and restaurants. Just a mile from the city center, it offered both peace and accessibility.
Dining

The dining experience was enjoyable with a non-greasy cooked breakfast option. The pre-order checklist was a convenient touch for quick service.

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms were fantastic, spacious, clean, and the bed was really comfortable, but they lacked privacy for the windows and were freezing cold at times. The bathroom was modern, which was a nice contrast to the antique style of the room.

The service was warm, friendly, and extremely helpful. The waitress at breakfast was welcoming and tried to assist with internet issues. They provided great recommendations for local attractions and dining options.

The location was excellent, nice and quiet at night, within close proximity to the town center. Easy walk to town with varied restaurants nearby.
Dining

The dining experience was amazing with beautifully presented meals and tasty dishes. Freshly made breakfast with lovely touches like shaped tomatoes and mushrooms cooked in butter.
Facilities

The hotel offers standard facilities, but the dining room was impeccably clean and the French patisseries were a delightful treat.

My stay at the hotel was quite pleasant overall. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and provided excellent value for money. The location was convenient for exploring the town, and the serene surroundings added to the experience. However, the dining options left much to be desired with lackluster quality. The service was efficient and polite, ensuring a stress-free stay.

Rooms

I found the room to be very clean and comfy, located at the rear of the property where I could enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature.

7.0/10

My stay at the Rivendell was a mix of coziness and noise. The room was huge and cozy with a lovely fireplace, but the sash windows let in a lot of road noise. The location was great for easy access to roads going out of town, next to a cycle path perfect for morning runs. Service was a bit lacking with no onsite staff during check-in, but the breakfast was ample. Overall, a comfortable stay with a few hiccups.

Rooms
7.0
The room was comfy and clean, but the windows were in very bad shape. Being on the ground floor next to the front door made it quite noisy with gravel drive and path sounds and front door banging.
Service
6.0
Service seemed friendly enough, but the lack of onsite staff during check-in was inconvenient. My son felt uneasy about the situation.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location on the outskirts of town was good for our needs, close to the A75 for easy travel. However, it resulted in early morning noise from staff preparing breakfast.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast was good with plenty of choices, but other dining options were limited. Homemade soups were a nice touch.
